Drama Club

The Drama Club of the college is a well-established club that encourages dramatic presentations by students in the form of skits, mime, plays etc. Eminent theatre personalities are invited to give lectures on the new trends in theatre. Theatre workshops are conducted in order to explore the possibilities for interdisciplinary linkages between different forms of performing arts. The Club is designed for students interested in learning more about the aspects of theatre. It provides platform to students who has talent, confidence and passion to do something unique. Drama Club promotes communication skills, teamwork, dialogue, socialization, stages terminology, working on acting skills, etc. It stimulates the imagination and creativity; it develops the better understanding of human behavior and empathy with situation. The Drama club also trains students in the theory and practice of theatre arts, including voice modulation, dialogue delivery, body language and flexibility, expressions, spatial coordination, stage-timing, improvisations, impromptu performances, stage direction etc.

Aims and Objectives

  1. To equip the students to read drama scripts and understand main ideas and details in different kinds of dramatic scripts.
  2. To enable the students to be capable of writing dramatic scripts for different purposes and audiences.
  3. To foster in the student the talent to perform in front of an audience in a complex culminating task
  4. To help students to manipulate body movements and facial expressions and convey appropriate emotion and meaning in dramatizations
  5. To gain expertise as an actor, playwright, director, costume designer, prop designer, musical and editing works
  6. To prepare students for the university level competitions (Drama, Mime, Skit, Monoact, Mimicry etc.)
