Innovative Programmes
The NSS unit of the college has undertaken seven innovative programmes. Eco-friendly activities are given importance as we have a commitment to protect the mother earth. Some of the innovative programmes are in fact model activities that could be implemented throughout our country. Plastic and plastic materials should be reduced and effective measures should be implemented for reusing and recycling plastic materials. e-waste collection and scientific recycling, grow bags for vegetable cultivation from flex banners , making of paper pens with a seed in it and toy collection for children are some of the innovative programmes carried out the NSS unit of the college.
Creation of Durable Assets
The NSS unit was instrumental in the creation of durable assets both for the campus and the society. Eleven programmes were conducted during the past three years. Five homes were constructed with the strenuous efforts of the volunteers. Out of five homes, one was constructed for a paralytic, a widow and a cancer patient. Two homes were constructed for classmates. Electrification of a house of a classmate, toilet for a slum dweller, rain water harvesting project and construction of six platforms around the trees of the star garden are the major the asset creations of the unit.

Human Banks for Public Welfare
The NSS unit of the college has pioneered to create six human banks for public welfare. We are committed to serve the humanity by offering the best. In order to ensure quality of life for everyone, we need to sacrifice many things. The volunteers derive pleasure from giving things to others rather than receiving things. All the six banks have been formed for the public welfare and they include: Voice, specs, eye, medicine, hair and dress. Special arrangements have been made to collect spectacles, medicine and dress from the staff and students of the college. It is the duty of the volunteers to hand them over to the authorities for getting the maximum utility.

Active Citizens Programme
The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports selected NSS unit no. 98 for carrying out the Active Citizens Programme and it is a noble initiative of the British Council. The Programme officers from eight selected institutions in India were given five day workshop at RGNIYD, Sriperumbudur. 30 students from the college where selected for the programme and five day workshop was arranged in the campus for envisaging the social action projects. The five social action projects (SAP) include-Wings of Hope,Adventure Camp of the SoS Children,Voice/Scribe/ Companion Bank for the Blind.

Empowerment Programmes for the Volunteers
Four programmes were conducted for the empowerment of the volunteers. Training to climb coconut palms aimed to create physical fitness among volunteers and create job opportunities. Swimming is a life’s skill and safe driving has become the order of the day. An adventure camp was conducted for the volunteers and training was given in four disciplines.

Awareness Programmes
Eighty eight awareness programmes have been conducted by the NSS unit for the last three years under the heads: AIDS, Environment, Agriculture, Nature Education Camp, Health and Anti-Drug Campaigns and Street Plays.

Blood Donation
Blood donation is one of regular activities and the volunteers actively take part in it. Eight camps were conducted by the unit in the campus and collected 456 units of blood. Apart from the blood donation camps conducted in the campus, the students voluntarily donated blood in various medical colleges in Thrissur whenever there is a request from a needy patient.

Health/Eye Camp
Three medical camps were conducted in the campus for the last three years for the entire staff, students and members of the adopted village. The NSS unit took the leadership in conducting a general health camp for the staff, students, and general public

Star Sign Garden
The staff and students of the college were proud of having a birth-star-sign garden in the campus. On the basis of the birth signs in Malayalam, trees are being allotted to individuals. There are twenty seven birth signs and each birth sign has got a unique tree. The NSS volunteers were divided on the basis of their birth signs and the respective trees are allotted to them for the future care and support. In order to have affinity and acquaintance with the concerned tree, all the plants in the star sign garden are labeled with their scientific names. Six stone platforms were constructed around the grown up trees in the star garden for Rs. 65,000/ in 2016-2017.

Special Camps of National Service Scheme
Special camps of NSS provide a unique opportunity for the volunteers to adapt themselves to community life. It helps the volunteers to be self reliant on one side and at the same time the local community and the adopted village greatly benefit out of it.
