Students went as scribes for blind students both within the college and outside.Voice bank initiated recordings of Malayalam books as there was no known software for recording books in Malayalam whereas there were many in English. These audio files are available in the archives of Federation of the Blind.

A safe and secure Home is everyman’s dream. Environment protection is the need of the  hour. With special emphasis to environment enrichment, we have introduced various programmes like Rain Water Harvesting by digging nearly 100 rainpits in the college campus. Our college stands at a drought prone area and in summer season, the wells dry up and there is severe water shortage. It was really a challenge to maintain the vegetable garden and other gardens in the college campus in summer season. The college is situated in a sprawling 25 acres of uncultivated land. The NSS unit of the college has been detrimental in converting most of these land into cultivable land, as is evident from our extensive agriculture activities. Our volunteers have succeeded in bringing about a change in the mind set of the society through their activities. The money raised have been utilized for charity purposes like wheel chair donation to the poor and needy and to meet medical expenses for the destitute in Old Age Homes and in  the adopted village. We have also successfully imparted the concept of food security drive as the college boasts of continuous upland cultivation of the medicinal rice variety of Njavara in 1 hectare of the college campus for the 5th consecutive year thus upholding the motto of `Food Production is superior to Food Donation’

The NSS Unit in our college has become the most effective organisation which intervenes in the society for many social causes. Our Unit undertook Disaster Management programmes in flooded areas during the monsoon season. We have also offered indispensible services at Ockhi Cyclone Refugee Camp at Kodungallur, Thrissur by providing financial assistance and donated medicines and dress  for the refugees.

For continuous interaction with the NSS alumni, the Changathikoottam was officially inaugurated in the times of the previous Programme Officer Smt.Soni.T.L and it still continues ardently to this day. Free Medical camps were conducted inside the campus and in the adopted area. Blood sugar –pressure, eye camps and Blood group detection are among the highlights.

Solution to Pollution was collecting the two great antagonists-plastic waste and e –waste. The NSS Unit collected 2500 kgs of e-waste in regard to the seven day camp in 2016-17 and handed it over to Clean Kerala Company. Compost pit and bio gas pit in the college campus were another remarkable achievements in waste management. Our NSS volunteers strove hard to conceptualise three main donations; Medicine donation(which were handed over to Ollur Primary Health Centre), Toy donation(which were handed over to children in the local anganvadi) and Specs donation(wherein  the frames of used specs were given to poor people). Along with it, we also regularly conduct hair donation and dress donation.

Our Unit observed all days of National and International importance in unique ways. Elocution contest, Quiz competition and street plays marked the days in a remarkable fashion. The Unit also arranged skill development and Women Empowerment Programme for the benefit of the volunteers, such as training in martial arts, learning to make paper pens and grow bags, ornament making and carry bags out of waste cloth materials.
